Hello
Susie Winston is a Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has provided mental health counseling and therapy to individuals, children, and families for more than 20 years; and another 20+ years providing clinical supervision and leadership skills to a variety of behavioral healthcare professionals, including supervision of associate level clinicians to become licensed in Washington. Her 47 years’ long career in Community Mental Health, both in California and in Washington, has enabled her to develop a deep commitment to recovery and a strong belief in the ability of the human spirit to heal.
Susie’s supervision style is coaching rather than directing. Overall supervision is focused on developing the natural talents of her supervisees; and empowering therapists to be their most authentic self while maintaining healthy boundaries and delivering effective mental health treatment services. Susie’s strengths-based style helps with preventing and/or addressing burnout and encouraging self-care.
Susie’s Coaching and supervision practice is based on the concepts of leadership, insight, compassion, strengths, and wellness.
My Story
Susie is a child mental health specialist and family therapist. She is an expert in the treatment of trauma, particularly all facets of neglect, abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence. As an individual therapist, Susie has a special interest in working with “moms and/or dads.” She has strong compassion for the challenges experienced by the parents and caregivers of behaviorally disordered children. Often, it’s the parent(s) who can benefit most from what therapy has to offer when supporting troubled kids. None of us got through our own childhoods without bumps and bruises. Susie has worked with a lot of survivors of complex trauma, both in individual and in group treatment services.
